Mashroom
21 Navigation Business Village Navigation Way, Preston, Lancashire, North West, England, PR2 2YP
Listed and Rented out in less than 6 hours! Well done Mashroom. Excellent service provided by Mashroom, good clear dashboard for managing appointments and subsequent offers!! I would never use a High Street Estate Agency to market for me again. I look forward to using Mashroom in the future.
Amazing customer service, couldn’t believe it was free! Debbie was amazing every step of the way making a very daunting process much less stressful. Would recommend to anyone over an estate agent and still astonished I’ve not had to pay any fees for all of her help!
User-friendly, great future-proof platform. Easy to use and upload properties. The dashboard allows straight forward communication with guests. Really helpful members of the team who were always available to answer questions re: using Mashroom.
A unique and time saving innovation. Thank you Mashroom. Refreshing and user friendly. So much easier than the traditional process. Being able to speak to the landlords direct and building a relationship of trust early on I found to be hugely beneficial. At last, a unique and time saving innovation.
Mashroom was recommended to me and I’d gladly recommend them to anyone. From the first interaction with Mashroom I knew I'd chosen the right people to help me let my flat. Within one week of advertising it, I had two offers, even one offering more than I was asking for. I never thought an end-to-end process of 15 days would be possible...

College & County Ltd
9-10 St Clement's St, Cowley, Oxford, Oxfordshire, South East, England, OX4 1AB
Thank you so much for looking after the property for us. It's so good to know that it is in good hands. We had several agents before C and C and you surpass them all a hundred times. You have taken away all stresses of being a landlord by being friendly, efficient and really caring about the property and the tenants, who I'm sure appreciate it too. It's several years now since we had the good fortune to sign up with C and C and it has been a pleasure ever since then. We appreciate what you do enormously and are very grateful. Thankyou!
My husband and I had to move to Oxford in a very short period of time. We are very happy with the service so far. From the beginning very professional and very friendly team of people. Very prompt and gave us all the necessary information without wasting a minute, which we were very thankful for. Lewis and Tabitha led us through the whole process and always there to answer any questions. Everything perfectly organized and we were very pleased.
Brilliant service offered to me by these estate agents. I am thankful to Lewis Stacey for being approachable and supportive to helping me to secure the property of my choice. Swift and simple administrate process which led to securing my tenancy agreement quickly. I'm happy I found a property suitable for me through these estate agents that are helpful.
Lewis Stacey has been very professional, helpful and prompt to our needs with our property search and referencing. Outstanding communication and dedication to his work and ensuring the clients needs are met as quickly as possible. Our agreement was done very swiftly and smoothly which gave us peace of mind. Friendly staff, that are reliable and efficient. Thanks for all your help
Very happy with the service and support received so far from College and County. Lewis was great at keeping in touch regarding the progress of the rental, and there to answer any questions. Have received a friendly, efficient and professional service throughout. Moving to Oxford from a few hours away, and with the pandemic, we were reliant on photos and videos of the property, so really pleased that it is just as presented.

Chancellors - East Oxford
215 Cowley Rd, Cowley, Oxford, Oxfordshire, South East, England, OX4 1XF
House on the market at 16:00, first offer before 17:00 and after several other offers the following day, the property is now under offer. So, an anticipated 2-3 week process took less that 48 hours, we are very impressed. Alex and his Team have been exceptional, I also add that to the extended Team within Chancellors that have also assisted in this whole process.
Very pleased with the whole service especially George who dealt with our sale. He was very efficient and professional at all times, no problem was too big or too small to deal with. Thank you George.
I felt safe in the hands of Alex Dimopoulos and the rest of the Chancellors team in this East Oxford branch. The house was sold in no time at a good price, and Alex helped a lot when the sale seemed to stall. I think they are unquestionably the best option when it comes to estate agents in East Oxford. Effective, friendly, very professional.
Absolutely have loved dealing with George from the Cowley branch who has provided us with a brilliant professional and honest service from the start until now. Nothing is too small or too big to ask for. He has been very patient with helping us with our search and is always open to questions and sharing his advice. Thank you so much. Overall a brilliant agency compared to most we have dealt with in Oxford.
I would usually not recommend Chancellors (especially the Headington branch) however we recently purchased a new property through the Chancellors - East Oxford branch in Cowley and we were quite pleased with the experienced. The Agent George C. was very polite, responsive and professional with good and non-pushy follow ups all the way during the process. I would certainly recommend them.

Premier Residential Sales & Lettings
207 Cowley Rd, Cowley, Oxford, Oxfordshire, South East, England, OX4 1XF
Good service, the house which I'm renting is decent hope they provide the same service later as well
I rented student accommodation through Premier and they were fantastic. Ellie was always very helpful and kept the process really simple for us. I couldn't recommend using Premier more if you want a good professional service where they are happy to help with any query you have.
Friendly, responsive and efficient. Charlie went out of his way to provide us with viewings and arrange a moving date amidst the COVID pandemic and Christmas period.
I've rented my property through Premier for many years and I've seen them develop from a small family firm to the highly professional business they are today. Charlie and Jo have provide quality customer service and their expertise at navigating ways through the choppy waters generated by the pandemic has been and is superb. They've been intelligent, patient and practical. A huge thank you to both!
Ellie was very helpful and responsive. I was in quite a rush to find a flat and thanks to Ellie, I was able to make the contract and move in very quickly. I would highly recommend!

Scott Fraser - East Oxford
267 Cowley Rd, Cowley, East, Oxford, Oxfordshire, South East, England, OX4 1XQ
If you're planning to rent with Scott Fraser PHOTOGRAPH EVERYTHING on day one. We got a 1000gbp deduction from our deposit for preexisting faults in house, a major one being ubiquitous mould spots all around the property - which we were told to deal with ourselves upon reporting. I got the odd impression they're way keener to check for faults after you have moved out to be able to cut your deposit money. Of course you can counter claim those deductions, but understandably, hardly anyone, aside from the letting agency itself of course, has the time and spare energy to do that - I think this agency is a great example of one that clearly knows that and takes advantage of it. My advice is, if you must rent with them, make sure you document and photograph every single fault upon moving in, and in presence of their representative (possibly even have them sign that they've seen the photographs) - of course a much simpler solution is to avoid them.
Amy has been so helpful during the arrangement of our house rental. She has been really responsive and friendly and has answered all of our queries, big or small quickly and helpfully.
I have made my rental contract with Scott Fraser Letting & Estate and have been very satisfied with their service. Harriet worked professionally and communicated with me very efficiently. The whole procedure for the contract went very smooth, in my point of view. Recommended.
I had a very good experience working with Amy, who helped to find tenants for my property. Amy was kind, efficient, friendly yet highly professional. I felt that I am in good hands and indeed- it was a quick and fruitful letting experience. I highly recommend Amy and Scott Frazer for their high standard approach and especially Amy, who was all that I could wish for as a first time Landlady.
We worked with Patrick in buying our new home. He was warm, welcoming, and very helpful with answering all of our questions (even after we'd completed our purchase). Patrick and his colleagues made this a very smooth operation and I could not be happier with the result. Highly recommend them.

Taylors - Oxford City Lettings
12-13 St Clement's St, Cowley, Oxford, Oxfordshire, South East, England, OX4 1AB
The worst customer service I have ever experienced. Avoid this agency at all costs! Do not trust all (short) positive reviews. They are all fake as this shady business is desperate to scam more people out of their money. Avoid! Avoid! Avoid!
NO customer service! Not even a trace! It appears that employees of this agency are not able to understand basic English? I sent them numerous emails directly and through platforms like Rightmove, specifically requesting a reply by EMAIL (and not by phone!) as I am doing night shifts and cannot pick up calls during the day. Nonetheless, they kept calling me... To make matters worse, they left voice messages, which did not even answer any of my questions regarding the property! If this is how they treat potential customers, I cannot imagine how appalling their service is for tenants... I will never recommend this agency to anyone and will be actively spreading a word about how unwilling they are to adapt to customer's needs! You either put customers first and train your staff, or you go out of business!
We have been working with Taylor’s since around 2018 on selling a few inheritance properties. Taylor’s have been great - particularly Mohammed - we have had issues ourselves with sorting out the correct paperwork to sell the houses for the estate - they have been nothing but helpful and extremely(!) patient. One property now sold at a good price and another has just gone on the market a couple weeks ago and we already have interest. Great estate agency.
Taylor's have acted quickly and efficiently to any questions I had when viewing the property initially and while renting the property, during these first three months of the tenancy. I am confident that if I have an issue, that it will be given the appropriate attention needed and a solution will be found . Taylors staff are friendly, very approachable and have guided me through the rental process with clear explanations.
Excellent service from Jonathan at Taylor’s Oxford, we’re so happy and grateful for everything he has done for us. Couldn’t have asked for a better experience for me and my partner’s first time moving out together. Professional, friendly and amazing service! Also he’s supported us throughout our time at this house and continues to. Thanks very much!

Penny & Sinclair
Mayfield House, 256 Banbury Rd, Summertown, Oxford, Oxfordshire, South East, England, OX4 1AS
I have always had the most wonderful service from this company, who have been managing my rental property for a decade. This past year and a half, which has been very challenging as I have not been able to be in the UK, Liana the property manager been wonderful, helping me out with all sorts of administrative and practical issues that I could not possibly have managed from abroad. I am so grateful. Highly recommended.
We have had an incredible experience with both Elina and Liana. They've gone above and beyond in making sure we have a good experience. For example, when finding some cosmetic issues in the flat, they took the initiative to ask us permission to renovate while we were on a trip... We came back to a much more updated and beautiful flat! Thank you!
Absolutely outstanding service from pillar to post. Having spent five months with a rival local company and chasing phonecalls and constantly being let down, Kate and the team at Penny & Sinclair were able to do everything we could have possibly asked of them in the most wonderful manner and speedy timescale. Took every phone call, answered every query and always purveyed a high level of surety and confidence. Would 100% recommend for selling in Oxford.
We've been renting with Penny for 3 years and are very happy with their responsiveness and professionalism. Repairs, big or small, are promptly addressed and fixed. Communication is friendly and professional. We had a recent repaint request due to damp issues. Unlike other letting agencies, Penny & Sinclair took the issue seriously instead of dismissing it. We just had our walls repainted with high quality paint. The dampness has been sealed and the flat looks like new. We are very satisfied with the management team, especially Liana, and the team involved in repainting. We would highly recommend Penny & Sinclair Summertown.
A huge shout out to the team at Penny & Sinclair - especially the wonderful Kate and wingwoman Deborah! Nothing was too much trouble, incredibly accommodating and thoughtful - just perfect. Really hardworking and helpful. Cannot recommend more highly. Kate is simply the kindest, most professional and supportive estate agent I’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting. Thank you so much!!

Northwood - Oxford
70 St Clement's St, Cowley, Oxford, Oxfordshire, South East, England, OX4 1AH
Been renting a room at one of their properties, don't usually reply to my emails, been waiting for ages for them to advertise my bedroom, when I call no one seems to know anything or try to look for answers Waited a year until they fixed the bathroom lock. Also they advertised the wrong bedroom in the house and end up walking with a person for a viewing in one of my housemates bedroom while he was in there. There's only one person in the agency that is helpful but unfortunately I don't remember the name.
I've been using Northwood Oxford to manage my flat for the last 12 months and have had a very positive experience. Wesley has always been quick to answer any queries and deal with any issues that arise and the tenants have been very good. All in all, very happy with the service.
Rented with Northwood for a year. Extremely helpful and responsive throughout my tenancy. Whenever I needed them they would respond to me immediately with great service. Would highly recommend!
It was a pleasure to work with Sonita on a transaction which involved a long chain and a complex legal issue. Her knowledge in conveyancing definitely attributed to the successful exchange in this matter. She remained professional and courteous throughout with all parties involved and I would highly recommend Sonita at Northwood Oxford when it comes to selling or buying your home. Thank you so much Sonita for your ongoing assistance. I hope to work with you again!
Northwood organised the renting out of my property, as well as its sale later on, in a highly professional way. Their staff was very efficient and helpful. Any questions I had were always answered very promptly. I would highly recommend their services.

Oxford Lettings Limited
226 Cowley Rd, Cowley, Oxford, Oxfordshire, South East, England, OX4 1UH
I rented from them back in 2015 and 2016 when I was studying in Oxford. Eventually me and my housemates could not get all the deposits back either even though we have cleaned and left the property in good condition. What's worst they were rude and aggressive towards the end. Overall I did not had a good experience with them. I remembered burning all my deposits and they have absolutely no empathy towards students.
I would definitely not recommend staying with this agency. I have been renting properties for over 6 years, and this is the worst agency I have had to deal with. Issues as following: 1) The property was not ready on the move in date. There was a large hole in the ceiling of one of the bedrooms. There were uneven floorboards upstairs. The place did not look like it had been cleaned. 2) When we moved in, there was no introductory tour. The house was in total darkness as we were not shown how to use the meter for gas and electricity. Within two weeks we had our microwave taken away, and had to fight to have a new one given despite it being part of the inventory. 3) I would have to agree with previous comments about lack of response and it being a struggle to get through by phone. We had a leaking shower upstairs that took around 2 months to be dealt with. The problem still persisted as the person who came to fix it did a 5 minute job. 4) There were constant viewings of the house after we decided not to renew our contract. Most of these viewings were done with less than 24 hours notice. 5) I would suggest taking photographs of every nook and cranny of the house when you first move in. They took a very long time to return the deposit, for which we suddenly were told we had to pay a large cleaning fee. I can see previous comments on bad reviews saying there was no evidence of living there. I have therefore attached evidence of tenancy to the photos.
Ok, here goes... I rented with Oxford Lettings for 6 months in 2020 and I can categorically say they were the worst letting agents I have ever had to deal with. There are numerous problems I had with them and I will list them below, but if you take one thing away from this review, know that they are terrible at responding. And I don't mean that in a 'they take two days to get back to you' way, I mean that they often don't respond to e-mails. At all. This, in my opinion, is one of the worst things they did, because I understand that sometimes things such as maintenance is not always readily available (it was during the height of the COVID pandemic), but a simple acknowledgement of my e-mails is basic professionalism. Here are a list of problems my housemates and I encountered with Oxford Lettings: 1. My deposit was not protected. The agency claimed that my deposit was protected with MyDeposits, but after many phone conversations with the protection agency, it turned out they had not. This is illegal. I only found this out because I was disputing the cleaning charges after I moved out, so it makes me wonder how many other tenants who did not dispute any charges also were not protected. Ultimately, I did get my deposit back, but only after threatening them with legal action (I could have made a claim for up to £2000 since they didn’t protect my deposit). Even then, when they first returned my deposit they had taken out £60, and I had to chase them up for this as well. 2. Failed to fix dangerous faults in the house. Earlier I wrote about how the letting agent failed to respond to many of our e-mails. Well, a couple of these e-mails concerned the fact that there was a large crack in our kitchen which was leaking. The other was that our fire alarm system was broken – the agency chose to ignore both e-mails. When we left the house months after sending these e-mails, neither fault had been fixed. 3. Cleaning Charges after moving out. My housemates and I decided to hire a professional cleaning agency ourselves which we did. The cleaners did a wonderful job and left the house in great condition. We informed the letting agency that we were organising professional cleaners ourselves and they asked us to make sure the cleaners would come back to fix any issues free-of-charge, which we did. We then asked that one of us be present for the inspection with the letting agent (or landlord/lady) and they said that would be fine and we arranged a date and time. They never showed up. They did the inspection after we left and had some issues so I contacted the cleaners who said they could come back, but when I spoke to the letting agency they said that the new tenants had already moved in and they had to get their own cleaners in and were going to charge us £350. It was a turn-over time of just over 24 hours: we moved out one day, they did the inspection the next day, and the new tenants moved in the day after. So, I’ll leave you to judge whether they managed to fix the leaking roof or fire alarm in that time. 4. Rude and unprofessional. Slightly later in the year the agency again informed us of a viewing. We expressed our concern with regards to the COVID pandemic (after all, many agency have just been doing video tours) and the agency responded saying that they were ‘trying to do their jobs’ and as residents we were ‘extremely difficult’. They also got annoyed at us for quoting government guidelines to them. Now, I myself work in customer service and know that sometimes it can be frustrating dealing with customers, but I would never tell someone that they were ‘being difficult’, especially if their concern was over COVID. So, there you have it. They were simply terrible. But there is also one final thing I have spotted which I suggest you try to see how bad this agency is. Go to all the Google reviews and select the ‘sort by’ in the top right to ‘lowest rating’ and have a look at the one-star reviews. Oxford Lettings has responded to every single one saying that they have no record of the person renting. I've included them in my photos.
Best in the business, suits all needs! Professional and honest, best in the game!
Idris and his team has been fantastic. I would highly recommend them as they are very up to date, very professional and ready to help at any given time. Customer service is splendid, which is key to moving and settling to a new place and I extremely felt I was listened to. Thank you Oxford Lettings for making my journey smooth.

RMA Properties Ltd
101a Cowley Rd, Cowley, Oxford, Oxfordshire, South East, England, OX4 1HU
Came all the way to Oxford for a viewing and they didn't bother to show up, no response afterwards. Absolute time wasters.
The horse is the white of the eyes and dark within.
Awful experience from start to finish. I can't tell whether they were taking advantage of us because we were students, woefully incompetent, or both. Whilst applying for the house they lost the documents we had given them and blamed us for it several times. They told us prior to the contract being signed that no deposit was needed from us, only to inform us after the signing that they would be needing a £750 deposit from each tenant. Upon arrival, the house was not professionally cleaned as they claimed. It was dusty and the balcony was littered with cigarette butts and other pieces of debris. Also upon arrival, we found a bed which had been left in the downstairs corridor and a mattress in the cloak cupboard, neither of which were removed until two months later despite us requesting this during the first week. Alongside this, the element, grill and two out of the four hobs on the oven did not work when we first arrived (house for FIVE people). When an engineer was sent to have a look, he told us that he had been called out before regarding the same issue with the same oven just before our tenancy began and that he had reported it to RMA and no action had been taken. Our washing machine broke after its first usage and, despite our protests, we were charged for its repair. That was all week 1. The rest of our tenancy was a series of us making requests about maintenance and other issues and either not hearing back or seeing an actual response for long periods of times (sometimes months). Come the end, we left the house in a better state than that in which we found it and they still attempted to claim a third of our deposit for 'damages' which were either illegitimate or not our fault. It took six months after the end of our tenancy to settle this dispute and get our deposit back. Would rate 0 stars if I could. Really don't bother
What a poor excuse of a letting agent. I would give zero stars if possible. This letting agent quite clearly tried to take advantage of my household as we were students. They were very unresponsive and unprofessional during our tenancy. Following which they illegitimately tried to claim back on anything they could from our deposit. The house was below average in terms of cleanliness when we moved in, yet they are claiming a £350 cleaning fee despite it being in much better condition then when we moved in. It was very obvious they had no idea what state our property was in when we moved in, so make sure you have plenty of photographic proof but save yourself the hassle and avoid them.
Absolutely appalled by this company. Promised a rental house would be professionally cleaned, the garden was going to cut and sorted. Neither of which had occurred. Rubbish all over the garden. Mould on walls, inside wardrobes and curtains, which is highly toxic for tenants with asthma. Bedrooms with inadequate and faulty blinds not offering privacy. A complete lack of safeguarding responsibilities to students.

NV Estates
221 Cowley Rd, Cowley, Oxford, Oxfordshire, South East, England, OX4 1XG
Rented a lovely room from them for several months. Any issues were generally sorted quickly. Irfan was always extremely helpful and attentive.
i have nothing other than good things to say about NV Estates. Not only have I had no problems with them, when an issue arose in the house they immediately picked up the phone and came over to fix the issue ASAP. Their customer service is brilliant and it is defiantly the best estate agency in Oxford. We've been using them for two years are are extending our contact as we are so happy with the way we have been treated!!
My interactions and dealings with NV estates have been very positive and professional. They have incredible customer service and lots of knowledge on Oxford so they offer great advice, I would highly recommend them, i personally had Irfan and he was a delight.
Great friendly customer service as NV Estates go above and beyond in order to help with advice , sourcing tenants as well as managment of properties.

Finders Keepers - Shared Letting
27 St Clement's St, Cowley, Oxford, Oxfordshire, South East, England, OX4 1AB
This agency has been known to discriminate against renters just because they're in receipt of universal credit. Disgusting behaviour
Really helpful and friendly! Have found in the past other estate agents to be dismissive and difficult, especially as a student, but Emily has responded and dealt with all of our issues/queries as soon as they arise. Would definitely recommend to other students!
When I moved to the UK, I was unfamiliar with the letting system here, but Finders Keepers (Emily in particular) was very kind and extremely helpful. She did explain everything and was available to answer all my questions. During my stay, I contacted the office multiple time to fix things in the unit, and they always responded quickly and fixed whatever needed to be fixed. I would definitely recommend using their service.
I would highly recommend FK. They have managed my property for years and years. It's a very organised business. Year in, year out they have managed the property brilliantly. I would highly recommend the friendly team at FK. Thank you for all your hard work.
Our contacts throughout our tenancy were Henry Mullenger and Aimee Withinshaw, both of whom were professional, knowledgeable, and quick to respond to maintenance issues. They completed all of the admin on FKSL's side quickly and comprehensively, including due to the Covid-19 pandemic instating new check-out procedures and booking cleaners for us. We didn't have to fight to get our deposit back, either - it was returned within the time frame specified and the deductions were fair and much less than they could have been.

Sterling Lettings And Management
Gosling Court, 11-19 Grange Ln, Leicester, Oxfordshire, South East, England, OX4 1XS
Poor service provided by staff, not helpful at all!
I have spent almost 3 years living at Sterling lettings, having stayed in two of the three accommodations. Both kingfisher court and gosling Court have been 4 bedroom flats which I have lived with both my friends and other students from a different course. I cannot express enough how thankful and appreciative of Sterling Lettings I am. My experience living in both flats has been stress free, comfortable and enjoyable. The flats are clean and fresh upon arrival, with all the necessary furnishings you need. The staff are excellent, and that’s what really makes this student housing stand out from the rest! Floros and Carly always go out of their way to ensure things are made simple for you, and go above and beyond to support you as much as they can, we have often just sat having chats in the office!!. The office staff are friendly and approachable and are readily available to answer any questions you may have and seek solutions to any concerns arisen. Any problems within the flat are quickly resolved through the maintenance team. floros is very supportive, understanding and flexible regarding payment and student finance arrival dates, which can’t be said for a lot of student accommodations!! I looked at many other accommodations and the prices are in the same range as neighbouring companies, but Sterling lettings offers the support and the extra mile you sometimes need as a student. Can’t say a bad word about Sterling lettings and I am thoroughly greatful to the staff for putting up with me for 3 years! My advice to future students is get in quick! Sterling lettings is very popular! So get your name on that reservation list ASAP!
Stayed in Chevron Court for my second year, the team manage three properties for students. There is always someone in the office during office hours and are very accommodating, willing to discuss any problems and personal needs (in my case dual occupancy). They send emails keeping you updated with anything happening regarding maintenance or fire alarm tests etc. They respond to your emails quickly, don't send you random charges for ridiculous things and deposit is returned quickly. Have moved for my final year and already missing the great service compared to the current lettings agent, would highly recommend!
Modern accommodation for students who study at both DMU and UOL. 1 min walk away from the DMU campus and 10 mins walk to the city centre and all at an affordable price. Rooms are great in size, staff are friendly and always willing to help with any problems. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for student accommodation in Leicester.
Best range of student accommodation that I have seen available in Leicester and only 1 min walk from the DMU campus! Not like other estate agents, as the landlord is in the office weekly and available to speak to and listen to any problems. More than happy to help meet my personal needs and couldn't meet friendlier staff.

JCP Estate Agents East Oxford
251 Cowley Rd, Cowley, Oxford, Oxfordshire, South East, England, OX4 1XG
I'm afraid we had a really bad experience with JCP when we sold our flat in Grandpont. We originally listed it for sale with JCP's East Oxford office in July 2020 at a commission of 1.5% (+VAT) and £175 (+VAT) for some other services. 9 months down the line, we felt stupid that we didn't negotiate these fees down based on the service we received. We felt very pressured into taking the flat off the market once an offer was received, even though we would have preferred to keep it on. After this, we heard very little from the agent until he informed us that the buyer was withdrawing her offer based on the survey. This happened 6 weeks after the survey took place, forcing us to relist the flat in October. Our experience with the second buyer wasn't any better. This time the agent ignored our conditions for accepting the offer. Despite agreeing to the offer in October, we waited 4 months to find out the buyer was going to book a survey despite being reassured by the agent that they were ready to exchange. The sale was eventually completed after many headaches and at a significantly lower price (over 5% lower than the initial asking price) in April 2021, 9 months after we first listed the flat with JCP. We didn't feel that the agent was active enough in managing our sale, and that he created more issues than he helped solve. The service we received certainly didn't justify the £7,200 we spent, so we raised this. Unfortunately there has been zero acknowledgement from the agent (apparently they went "over and beyond") and so we have regrettably had to take this to the Property Ombudsman. There doesn't seem to be any other way of holding what I would consider a predatory estate agent into account when they offer minimal services at premium prices. So to protect others from making the same mistakes we made, here are some top tips for selling with JCP: 1. If possible, I would avoid them altogether or use the North Oxford branch 2. If you do go with JCP, negotiate the commission down to 1.25% (which is the market rate most others, e.g. Breckon and Breckon or Chancellor's, charge) 3. If JCP do insist on a premium rate (1.5%), at least make sure they agree to reduce it if the property takes too long to sell (e.g. above 6 months) or sells at a significantly lower value than the asking price (e.g. 5%). This may incentivise them to respond quicker to issues when they arise, and avoid putting pressure on you to reduce the price (which happened to us several times). The terms of business, as they stand, are minimal and won't protect you if things go wrong. 3. Make sure JCP include the £175 + VAT for EPC, photographs, and floorplans within that commission. They will try and list it separately, even (as in our case) the EPC was recently done and can therefore be downloaded for free off the internet. 4. When the JCP agent calls you to pressure you into accepting the first offer, just ignore them and keep your property on the market for a minimum of 2 weeks in case other offers come in. 5. Send important communications to them in writing, e.g. conditions for accepting the offer. They will try and do everything over the phone which, conveniently, makes it difficult to present evidence when you do have to take this to the Property Ombudsman. I wouldn't want my worst enemies to go through the same experience we had with JCP, so I hope some others find this review useful. If you want the sale of your home to be in safe hands, I would err on the side of caution and just avoid them altogether.
I highly recommend JCP Agency to anyone looking for a new place to live. Mariem was my representative and was very helpful in supporting me even with the additional problems due to covid.
Zsofia was our representative and was amazing. Extremely helpful and couldn’t of asked for more. Thank you very much
Fantastic top class customer service and very good value for money. We have just sold our house through JCP in East Oxford. The customer service we received from David and the team couldn't have been better. Even with the additional challenges of covid, David made everything run smoothly on all sides. He was also always available to answer any questions we had. We highly recommend JCP to anyone.
We are first time buyers and we’re struggling to find somewhere due to COVUD-19 but delighted to say we have just had an offer accepted thanks to JCP! Specifically so grateful to Patrick who dealt so graciously with our dithering around a house visit and who did the most wonderful virtual tour for us before we were able to travel. We’re so excited to be home owners!
