7 letting agents in Hertford

Extremely poor estate agents when it comes to letting atleast... Really liked the look of a property a week ago called up and said I'd like to offer but was told we have to view first... Booked viewing... Viewing canceled as offer received from a viewer (fair enough)... Now another property we fell in love with came up yesterday, made viewing straight away and upon viewing end (same day) offered asking price again (said we'd go higher if needed) and got told they have to allow others to view before making decision!? Then get told at 5pm the property has been agreed to rent by another viewer even though I was the first to offer full price..

Just browsing their site looking to move. Which is hard to do when you have no one to act as a guarantor and on universal credit, not working and awaiting for an operation...! So exploring all estate agents that may be of use.

Shepherds were great throughout the whole process of selling our house. We could always get hold of somebody when we needed to, and as they are a small close-knit team they always knew what was going on with our sale - definitely no bouncing around different agents every time you ring! Thoroughly excellent, friendly and professional service all round, and the staff were extremely helpful with extra requests - verifying ID, witnessing documents etc. Would absolutely recommend to anybody.

,Brilliant service. Nine years ago we needed a quick move. i used Shepherds. They were brilliant and ensured a stressful move went through with ease in good time. Their experience and sensible approach impressed me. When time came to move again I called Shepherds. I didn't get any other quote. Why would I ? They had done a brilliant job last time. I knew the staff were the same, as I saw them round the town and they always said hello. They are Hertford people who love and know Hertford. Every single viewing i got feedback for. The office staff were always helpful and the people arranging viewings always considerate . They all did a brilliant job on both my house sales 2012 and 2021. Highly recommended.

We felt our sale was dealt with very well. It was set up promptly, we were kept well informed and we were given good advice. They were helpful, without being pushy. We had had valuations of the property done with Shepherds a couple of times over the previous few years and they didn't hassle us for a sale at all. The staff in the Hertford site were friendly, efficient and did what they said they would. There was only one oversight made on the house plan, but this was corrected immediately with apologies. They were diligent with checking progress of the sale with us, our buyers and both solicitors, and answered queries promptly. We are happy with how Shepherds managed our sale, and would be confident to use them again in the future.

I had such a great experience with Lisa from Steven Oates. She made the house buying process so easy, especially when it seemed to take ages for solicitors to talk to one another I knew I could always go to her and would get a sensible and helpful answer straight away. In a few years when I sell I will defo use Steven Oates again after this experience.

Here is a unique estate agency who genuinely cares about their vendors. From the start Westley was on time for the first appointment, switched on, enthusiastic and genuinely interested selling our property. The positive tone set by Westley radiates throughout his employees who are also upbeat friendly and more importantly on the ball. I can honestly say Westley and all of his team were one step ahead of me all the way, which is more than I can say for numerous other estate agents I have dealt with across the years. Here is a company who takes pride in being organised and doing the small things well, particularly feedback. I’d recommend them any day of the week and would definitely use them again in the future. Westley, Michael and the rest of the team were great through the whole process. The pictures and marketing were excellent, and selling on a road with several other similar properties. We were the only one on the road to sell, and achieved the highest price on the street which is testament to the teams work. Very happy in our new home and with the service provided. Margaret does a fantastic job as managing agent for the property that I have rented for over 5 years now. She is always extremely responsive and ensures I have a plumber/electrician or whatever I may need promptly. Rent Hertford is a small, local and privately run business where you get all the benefits of an independent, caring, hands on service. I’ve rented all my life and Rent Hertford are by far the best landlords/agents I’ve had, genuinely concerned if I’m unhappy and always fair in their approach and make me feel supported. The service is incomparable against the big estate agent chains. Think boutique v prime mark.

We have been using this Letting Agent for over a year now and only have positive feedback to offer. They handled the move from the previous Agent in a smooth, efficient and professional manner. Any problems have been dealt with speedily and the bills for repairs and maintenance have been good value even when we had an emergency situation with water flooding into an adjacent flat. All the staff are efficient, very experienced the their field and above all, down to earth and friendly. If I had come across this agent sooner I could have saved myself a lot of stress and money.

I dealt with Sarah and Margaret predominately. All were very friendly and very helpful! The whole process was very smooth and once I expressed interest in the property they were very helpful in going through the process promptly. Would definitely recommend.

For a renter they are not very thorough, knowledgeable or professional. I recently was shown property for rent by an estate agent from Kings Group and they didn't even introduce themselves or offer a card. This person knew little to nothing about the property. She hurriedly stated the requirements to make a rental offer. Since she didn't introduce herself or give an email address that would be difficult. I eventually found out her name and sent the required documents. Within a day I was told they accepted another offer with no reason given. When I asked to confirm that my personal documenation would be deleted from their systems, I was told they had not received them. Which is curious. It meant my offer was never considered. Was I removed from the running because I asked about the estimate on utility bills? Would not want this company as the management company for my flat.

Thank you for all you do. I always find Brodie and the team very helpful with quick response times. As a first time tenant it is a relief to know that when and if there is an issue i can just pick up the phone. I know many associates that are renting private or with another agency and hear quite a few complaints on how neglected they feel.
