3 letting agents in Mile End

Avoid this letting agents at all costs, especially if you’re a student. We had problems with them from the beginning, Liz was late to our contract signing. Furthermore, throughout the year whenever we have had a problem Liz was always very rude and unprofessional. They also refused to give us a copy of our contract until about 9 months into the tenancy and were passive agressive when we asked if we could have the original copy that we signed. As well as this our landlord wasn’t much better and went to the bathroom with the door open! At the end of our tenancy Hale lettings would only reply to emails and phone calls when it suited them and were not very forthcoming when it came to our deposit as well as if they had put our deposit in a protection scheme, something they are legally required to do. I do not recommend this letting agent at all.

Despite seeing a bunch of negative reviews, I and two other tenants had no problems dealing with either Liz or Holly, they were generally quick to reply to any issues we had, signing the contract was quick and easy, and yes I did read it back to front. We had a leaky boiler develop but they got it fixed without any hassle. Would recommend this agent, had no hassle throughout the tenancy and would say to other people who've made complaints that they might be isolated issues, and that to consider that students without massive amounts of real life experience aren't always in the right. Compared to Jacksons and Saxons who are literal criminals in every sense of the word, these guys are a dream, you should definitely check here first.

Despite having many small issues with the property when we moved in, I had a pleasant experience with Hale as my first time renting. All problems were dealt with quickly at the start, and all throughout the tenancy, with no fuss or dispute. They were very helpful whenever I had an issue with paying rent (typical student life) and I received my full deposit back. They are a lovely family-run business who will do all they can to help within reason. Would definitely recommend.

Property Book Letting Agents in Colchester are best avoided. They do not have their customers interests at heart, but are focused solely on what income they can generate from you. Regardless of the circumstances, the moral and ethical issues, they will only see you - the customer - as a potential income stream. They recently charged my daughter over £800 for renting a miniscule ground floor studio flat for just sixteen days. Although we questioned the fairness of their charges they were adamant their fees should be paid. Don't use this agency unless you are happy to be ripped off.
