Sadly, since the takeover by Leaders, this agency has disappointed consistently. In particular, they regularly fail in their duty of care to the landlord. The lettings staff are lackadaisical. If it were not for (the now disempowered) Gavin, we would have left a long time ago.

Amazing team of estate agents. They accommodated my needs, understood my requirements and limitations. I told them I wanted to move into a flat within two weeks. And within a week of viewing the property, it was mine and I'd signed on the dotted line. The team made that experience memorable as well in their office and gave me a moving in present of wax melts (smells divine), a signed card AND a mug. Martins are a very good estate agent. They are particularly good at giving an accurate valuation and then negotiating this with buyers. Gary is an excellent straight talking businessman which is rare. Unlike many estate agents they do not make unmeetable promises. They deliver and I and my partner successfully sold both our properties at the right price. Beware other, more slick estate agents, especially if they try to attract you with ridiculous valuations.

Simply - the best! Highly motivated team, Cameron came to initially view property, advised on price and strategy which we followed, 8 viewings arranged within 2 days. Property placed on Right move etc on the Wednesday afternoon, sold two days later, on the Friday afternoon. Harry Hicks from William H Brown Colchester is by far the best person you could ask for in an estate agents, he will arrange every viewing around your working time, he will stay later than he has to in order to get more viewings in one go rather than spread them over a few days for convenience to you. I have had nothing but problems with William H Brown from start to finish, and even after my dealings are finished with them, Harry is the only one willing to help me in regards to getting my deposit back. If you need anything in regards to letting, Harry is the guy.

I am delighted with the service from William H Brown. Phil valued my home at a higher price than other agents, which I was sceptical of at first, but he said it would definitely sell for more than I had thought. I ended up getting four offers at the price he recommended. My home was very well marketed and in the end we had to turn people away from viewings. Phil is continuing to liaise with other agents in the chain and is smoothing the whole process out so it progresses without a hitch. Amazing service from start to finish! Phil came to our home for us to sign up with William H Brown and within a matter of hours we’d had two viewings and had accepted an offer. I was a tenant with gallant Richardson for 10 years and would not recommend them as a letting agent to anyone who has to rent (a tenant). The house we rented was run down and needed a lot of work doing to it when we moved in but we made it our home and took great care of it. We improved the house in many ways over the years including revamping the garden. We got to know the staff quite well due to having to undergo frequent routine periodic checks. The frequent visits felt quite intrusive over the years but we accepted this is how this particular letting agent operates. So if your someone who wants to feel like the house you rent is your home, then this letting agents may not be for you. When we finally were ready to move out having secured a mortgage, they wanted to keep all the deposit money for the most petty unjustifiable reasons, which was a real kick in the teeth! I had the stress of disputing their reasoning for which they reduced their charges, but after renting for 24 years with various letting agents in that time, I can honestly say I have never lost a penny of my deposit before or had this unpleasant experience upon moving out. I was even charged to have Venetian blinds I added to the windows to be “professionally removed” as they claimed they had “damaged the window surround - and needed to be put good” - to find the blinds are still in place to this day - 8 months later with the new tenants living in the house!!! I would advise tenants to avoid this letting agents as they are bias to landlords needs and act in their favour presuming due to the larger fees they charge landlords to help manage the property on their behalf and complete periodic routine checks etc.

Having used other letting agents in the past and being left disappointed, I used Google reviews this time and decided to try Abbotts Colchester. Not only were they more reasonably priced than other agents, but their service was exceptional. Every part of the experience was so well handled right up to the point of the new tenant moving into my property. One of their agents, Sammy Goldby, has made sure that the properties he sends over are tailored specifically to my needs - making the whole house search process more efficient and less time consuming than when compared to searching on my own or waiting on other agents' offers. Be careful.... they entice you with asking you to pay the full asking price in the promise of a fast sale, ( pay the full asking price and we will ensure a fast sale for you) Once they have you as a sale it is like you don’t exist.... trying to get hold of anyone is impossible....and everytime you call they never remember your name or which property you are buying. After 7.5 months of trying to buy a one house chain as a cash buyer..... I had to go down to the office and lose my cool with them to get them to do anything. Even then they couldn’t even be bothered to acknowledge you. The whole place is ran by a bunch of kids who don’t care one bit... I never write reviews , as I can’t be bothered but honestly... if you’re buying a house through Saxons at WSM just know you are in youre in for a undelightful treat of stress and anger..
